H.E. Mr. Martin Tlapa, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic, stated that he strongly believes that the welcoming relationship between Myanmar and Czech would help Myanmar to overcome its current difficult situation.
In the letter, he mentioned that the Czech Republic strongly condemns the military coup in Myanmar since its first day. They support the legitimately elected leaders, and call for respect of the results of the November 2020 Parliamentary Election in Myanmar. They urge the immediate release of President U Win Myint, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all other detainees.
The Czech Republic will not recognize the new regime as the Government of Myanmar. They urge the immediate restoration of the legitimate civilian government in Myanmar, and the swift opening of Parliament with the participation of all elected representatives as foreseen by the Constitution.
H.E. Mr. Martin Tlapa also said that the Czech Republic will support the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and welcome the formation of the National Unity Government (NUG).
