Dr. Sai Khaing Myo Tun has been serving as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Myanmar’s National Unity Government (NUG) since December 2025. Prior to this role, he served as the Deputy Minister of Education beginning in May 2021, where he focused on promoting education reform and democracy. 

A former professor at Yangon University of Foreign Languages, Dr. Sai holds a PhD in International Development from Nagoya University in Japan, which he earned in 2011, as well as a Master’s degree in International Development from Nagoya University (2008), a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Yangon (2002), and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Yangon (2000). From 2015 to 2021, he led the Myanmar Teacher Federation, advocating for teachers’ rights and opposing military rule.
