Dr. Maung Maung Myint

Dr. Maung Maung Myint, born in Pathein, is a graduate of the Institute of Dental Medicine, Yangon. He later received a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Oslo, Norway. He has been practicing dentistry since 1983, and currently working at the Oslo-based National Resource Centre for Oral Health in Rare Medical Conditions.
His political and journalistic career began during the 8888 pro-democracy uprisings, in which he served as president of the Pathein Student Union and editor of the Daung Phan Var newsletter. He was one of the founding members and an editor of the Democratic Voice of Burma. He later joined Radio Free Asia – Burmese Section as a reporter and an editorial consultant. His long journalistic career includes positions as president of the Burma Media Association, as well as country representative and jury member of the Reporters Without Borders.
Dr. Maung Maung Myint has previously been a board member of the Norwegian Burma Committee. He served as the secretary of the CRPH Support Group (Norway) before he was appointed as representative of the National Unity Government to Norway.
