Statement on the Killing of Three Mizoram Residents in India
29 March 2023
On 22 March 2023, three Mizoram residents (Male-2 and Female-1) were killed by a group of unidentified people at a place along the border of Chin State in Myanmar and Mizoram State in India. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government is deeply saddened by this news and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.
The Ministry is concerned about the allegation of such tragic incident against some Myanmar citizens, which has gone viral on social media.
The Ministry would like to express its strong support for the efforts of the law enforcement authorities and the local government in their attempts to bring the perpetrators to justice in a fair and just manner.
In addition, the Ministry would like to strongly urge Myanmar citizens seeking refuge in India to build mutually respectful relationships with the residents of relevant states and to actively cooperate in the maintenance of regional security and the rule of law.
